The Steelshield FL is a fully louvred external steel door designed to combine natural ventilation with enhanced security and durability. CE marked to EN 14351-1 for external use, this door is ideal for applications where airflow and access control are essential – such as plant rooms, substations, boiler rooms, and secure service areas.

Engineered for the trade, the Steelshield FL supports a wide range of installations, with configurations available for single or double doors, personal access, means of escape, and optional over panels and side panels. Its full louvre design promotes continuous air circulation while maintaining a solid defence against intrusion.

Steelshield FL Security Door

The Steelshield FL is a highly secure, fully louvred steel door designed to meet the demanding needs of specifiers, contractors, and facilities teams. It offers a perfect balance of security, durability, and essential ventilation, making it ideal for personnel access or as a means of escape door where airflow is required.

Extra-strong build

The door is built for maximum durability. The frame is 1.5mm thick, while the door is made from 1.2mm thick steel (with an even tougher 1.5mm option). The door leaf is 55mm thick and features a twin-skinned, non-welded design.

Certified protection

It’s CE marked to meet European safety standards (EN 14351-1), so you can be confident it’s built to last and provides reliable security.

Airflow

The door’s core features 2.0mm louvre blades, which provide 50% airflow while still offering protection from air, wind, and water. This is crucial for applications requiring secure, constant ventilation.

Enhanced security

With 12mm-diameter security bolts between each hinge, this door provides an extra layer of protection against forced entry.

Corrosion-resistant finish

Both the door and the frame are made from galvanised steel. This material is ready to be painted with a PPC (Polyester Powder Coat) finish, providing superior, long-term resistance to rust and corrosion.

Finish

The Steelshield door features a highly durable, in-house applied external polyester powder coat finish. You can select your colour from the full RAL or BS4800 colour range.

This premium finish is backed by a 7-year warranty*, assuring its long-term adhesion and colour stability.

Door furniture and locking

Your doors will be fitted with the Arrone 800 Series DIN standard mortice lock range, providing comprehensive security and function options including:

  • Sashlock, Deadlock, and Latch
  • Nightlatch
  • Toilet Lock
  • Escape Sashlock

All locks are paired with a Level Handle Set featuring 19mm stainless steel round bar levers that are bolt-through for superior strength (tested to Grade 3 BS EN 1906), along with a matching stainless steel security escutcheon.

Hinges and closing devices

The door assembly is supported by four Arrone 8782 stainless steel lift-off hinges (Class 14$to BS EN 1935), each equipped with a 15mm security bolt for enhanced tamper protection. Door closing is controlled by an ASSA 200/300 Surface Mounted Door Closer with a sleek silver trim plate.

Door bottom edge

A specialised U-profile is included at the door’s bottom edge, ready to easily accommodate either an automatic drop seal or a concealed floor sweep (available as options).

Profile cylinders

We supply the profile cylinders in your choice of configuration: cylinder & turn, double cylinder, or single cylinder. Multiple doors are supplied with a standard differ (unique keys) but a master key system is available upon request for unified access control.

Means of escape devices

We provide hardware compliant with all necessary safety standards:

  • Panic exit devices (BS EN 1125 Compliant): Briton 300 series options include the 376 two-point bolt and 378 single-point latch, both with a 1413 lever or knob for outside key access.
  • Emergency exit devices (BS EN 1179 Compliant): Briton 2300 series options include the 3372 two-point panic pad and 41438 single-point panic pad.
  • Standard escape devices include the Arrone DIN standard mortice escape sashlock with a lever handle.

Door frame options

Steelshield FL external doors come with a choice of frames to suit the widest possible structural doorway constructions.

As standard, they come with the rapid fit “jacking screw” arrangement and adjustable sub frame channels that allow our doors to have the correct tolerance. This ensures simple installation, whilst expanding to fill the structural opening and leave a neat joint ready for mastic to be applied.

Standard frame

The standard Steelshield FL frame is designed for high durability, excellent corrosion resistance, and simple, secure installation across various structural openings. It has a frame sheet thickness of 1.5mm for maximum strength.

It also has an all-round black seal on three sides (head and both jambs). This makes it highly versatile and can be securely fitted into a wide range of wall constructions, including:

  • Brickwork / concrete
  • Gas concrete
  • Prefabricated walls
  • Composite panel
  • Steel work

Our panels are sized to fit various configurations, but please note, any panels exceeding 1350mm in height will feature a central split.
